Transportation Alternatives and Critical Mass. Those are two groups that come to mind as I read this article in yesterdays Metro newspaper, “The high cost of cruising” and unfortunately, according to this article, the high cost of cruising seems to be death from car accidents. The article has some interesting numbers and statistics. “From 1950 to 1970, the U.S. automobile population grew four times faster than the human population. Interesting. And it goes to to say, Cars kill people, During the 20th century, 250 million Americans were maimed of injured in automobile accidents. Every single day in the U.S., an average of 121 people are killed in car accidents. These numbers are incomprehensible to me and I see the increase of cars in New York city over the years as I look around. Streets I once crossed slowly, I now run across. With today’s gas guzzling cars contributing to the war with oil and gasoline consumption, ozone depletion and greenhouse gases speeding up the pace of life, more cars and more accidents seem to be a way of life. What can one do if a loved one is lost to an accident, as cars are not the only hazardous mode of transportation. Any mode of transportation can be hazardous with the possibility of accidents. If only speed limits can be reduced on highways and even streets or if only everyone can bike to work, or if only the pace of life can be slowed down with cars and transportation or if only it was possible to go back to the days of horse and buggy’s. If only another world was possible. And what does this have to do with a No Police State?![]()

Divide and Conquer
Today is Sunday, a day of rest that some people see as the Lords day and here I find myself blogging again. And today’s thought that comes to my mind. Divide and Conquer. What is the meaning of that phrase as I have heard it every so often throughout time. And what is being divided and conquered. This phrase usually refers to people being divided against themselves as a house divided against itself cannot stand. Is it the opposite of unity, is strength in numbers. And what is strength in numbers needed for anyway. Is it united we stand and divided we fall. Does Wikipedia have an entry or an answer for that. And what does this have to do with a No Police State? Have a great Sunday.![]()

These Days
Is it the summer heat or something. Some days when I look up at the world around me, it is enough to make me wonder if it is the beginning of the end, as current events and the state of the world seem to be out of control. And a religious fanaticism takes hold of me, as it is not the year 1800 anymore and times have changed. And I take this opportunity to repost a blog entry that I posted a while ago for anyone who may be reading this blog. Is there hope for the state of the world. Is another world possible? As this is a random thought of the day.
According to Prophecy Central, a world of information about biblical prophecy that details an outline of the future, these are signs of the end times. Though this has been said since the beginning of time many of the bible prophecies and scriptures are being fulfilled in our time. And the false prophets will say “Peace, peace” when there is no peace. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Matthew 24:6-8. Here is a prophetic top 10 predictions of the end of the world from a prophecy website to be interpreted: 1. Global Terrorism 2. Unrest in the Middle East 3. National I.D. Initiatives 4. Military buildup 5. The worlds growing focus on Jerusalem 6. The European Unions political merger . 7. Ecumenicalism (One World Religion) 8. Civil liberty concerns 9. The collapse of morality 10. China’s growing economic and military might.
The microprocessor and microchips fit in there somewhere. Watch and be ready for the return of Jesus Christ. And if the year passes and no end of the world…….

WBAI Radio Drama
Somehow I found myself at a WBAI local station board radio committee meeting today for listener elections or something like that. WBAI 99.5 Pacifica Radio is a listener sponsored radio station in the New York City area that I have been listening to for seemingly forever. And so they had one of many election meetings today and one of the many listener input and feedback meetings today. And a radio drama indeed it is to hear the drama ramas of a radio station that seems to be in turmoil and whose radio drama goes way back in time with its listener sponsored board and its behind the scenes or not so behind the scenes stories on how its radio station functions. And everyone at the meeting seems to want to save WBAI from itself and a seemingly continuation of a story told many years ago. And hearing all of these drama ramas at this meeting seems to reflect and mirror a microcosm of a current administration. WBAI is one of the last community radio stations around who gives an alternative voice to the people in this town. What will be left without the voice of WBAI. Is it possible to help save WBAI and the world. And what does this have to do with a No Police State?![]()
To Paradise and Back
And so I went to this all you can eat free food buffet party the other day in the green mountain state of Vermont of all places. and all of the conversations with the other guests turned into an interesting conversation, so much that I wanted to pull out a pen and pad and take notes to blah blog about it later before I forgot it all. Maybe that could be one of the 50 signs you’re a blogaholic. And some of the conversations that I do remember were mostly about real estate as usual, and the lady from Kentucky which brought us to the conversation of the Mason Dixon line where she lives and all of the slavery museums located there. What exactly is the Mason Dixon Line, some sort of invisible dividing line? That’s a whole another topic. And then there was the conversation that turned political with “Do you watch the news?”. To which a reply was about the Court Jesters being the only ones who tell the truth with news or something like that. Ans so I returned to the city, New York City as my mini day trip ended and then I realized when I saw the barrage of advertising with half of the ads implying and referring to violence, that Vermont has a no billboard law. The state of Vermont is all green mountains and not a single sign, billboard or advertisement to be found in sight. What a stark contrast to New York City. And the urban city dweller arrives in me again as space becomes an issue amongst the density of the city population and the sea of humanity as I walk the streets of Manhattan. Welcome to New York.![]()
On the way to Spain

My friends, The Himalayas, this really cool marching band here in New York City, will be on their way to Barcelona, Spain in a couple of weeks as part of their short music tour over there in Europe. And from what I hear, they are winging it, without a hotel as of yet. If I would have thought beforehand, I may have suggested that if they are looking for Hotels in Barcelona, they can try Cheaper than Hotels. Cheaperthanhotels website offers Hotels in Madrid and Hotels en Barcelona. Cheaperthanhotels offers last minute accommodations at hotels, hostels and apartments year round with free extras and lowest rates guaranteed. With the great travel deals that are to be found on their website, maybe it’s not too late to tell my friends, the Himalayas now before they travel there. Cheaperthanhotels can help make their destination to Spain cheaper, enjoyable and a great postcard from Spain. Bon Voyage.![]()
The Deli Magazine Rocks
Hey Bloggers, oh my rockness. I have written an article for The Deli Magazine. The Deli Magazine Rocks! They are all about the NYC Indie Rock Scene! And they rock. I recognize The Deli Magazine as one of my MySpace friends and I also see their magazine in a lot of musicians top eight, so they must rock. I am happy to be able to review music for their magazine because their magazine rocks. The blog entry is titled “Zambri: tiny sisters with huge potential, tonight at Fat Baby”, and that photo of them that goes along with the entry is way cool.
If you happen to be online, you can read it at The Deli Magazine
or
You can read it as follows:
Zambri are creatures with a passion for playing music is basements, streets and various other places. With two sisters Jessica Z and Cristi Jo Z, Carrie I. (who is reported to play bass and electronics with her boots!?) and a couple of guys later, the Z club is born. Their new EP “Aliens” is available now, with a record cover that introduces us to a cool Zambri logo – that somehow reminds us of the squatter anarchist symbol from days long gone in The Lower East Side. I must confess that the infectious lyrics and melody from “God” keep playing over and over in my head. Zambri music is a good fun and sweaty pop – besides, that boot playing bass and electronics must be an awesome sight to see! You can catch them tonight at Fat Baby and on 09.14 at The Lolita Party @ Glasslands Gallery in Williamsburg.
