I’ve been reading enough about those Con Edison manhole covers and steam pipe explosions and electric surges in the papers lately enough to make me not want to walk around the streets of New York City and its aging infrastructure. And that’s not including all of the other hazards of walking around the streets of New York, like falling through grates or something falling out of the sky. I see the steam from miles away sometimes coming up through those orange cones in the middle of the street and of course I walk around them. But how many manhole covers can one dodge just to get around town. Life can be like the lottery sometimes. Hey, you never know. Have a great day.

Santa and Satan
Hey Bloggers, I know it’s not Christmas or the end of the world yet, but I can’t wait for Christmas or the end of the world to roll around to blah blog this thought I have. I want to ask someone, or anyone who may be reading this blog, why does the word Santa have the same letters as Satan? Any why do both of these characters wear red, white and black and are mythical and magical figures that one has never really seen, except if someone dresses up like them. And why is Satan the opposite of Christ, who is Santa at Christmas? And both of these characters are bearers of light and gifts and are able to change forms like angels. Are they both deceivers also? What is the meaning of these two figures relations. Does Wikipedia have an answer for that.
The Mediterranean
When I think of the Mediterranean, I see the Middle East and a greek salad with olives, feta cheese and a falafal on the side for some reason. Fashion Weak
If you are weak for fashion than this may be the time of year for you. Fashion week must be coming up sometime soon because all of the newspapers are starting to show those familiar photos of models walking down the runways wearing clothes that say what the latest styles and trends for the upcoming fall, summer, spring, winter or any other season of the day or year it is will be. And what is there to say about fashion except go out and buy more clothes if you want to be stylish and trendy in New York because I am not sure if someone in nowhere ville, no town is as fashion conscious as New Yorkers can be. I myself can only afford to keep up with the latest trends that are to be found by shopping at the local thrift store and wearing a sheet or a potato sack is good enough for me as a fashion statement. If only every day were Halloween in this town because then I could wear anything and it wouldn’t matter because it’s Halloween, a day to be free to be whoever one wants to invent oneself as. Happy fashion weak.
End of an Era
I guess it is the end of an era in Rock N Roll. The news reports say Hilly Kristal, the founder of CBGB’s punk rock club in New York City on the Bowery has passed away. It is almost as if he could have predicted the date of his passing with the closing of the well known club last year. I am not sure what much I can say about CBGB’s that has not already been said about what it embodies and represents in its history as a club for some sort of freedom in music. Only that may he rest in peace and that this marks an end of an era, not only for CBGB’s, but for the Bowery and the New York Citiy real estate scene in an era of gentrification. Maybe the legend will live on somehow, though New York may never be the same. A cycle that is ever changing.

The Headlines
And the headlines are there again. Another person loses their life to gun violence for whatever reason for no reason at all except that guns have been invented. The story has been told in the head before and the story will be told again in tomorrows headlines with no end in sight. The am New York has an interesting statistic in an article titled “Guns and people”; there are nine guns for every ten people in the United States, a scary statistic. And The Villager has interesting statistics in an article titled “”Lower East Siders blast back against gun violence”, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, told a forum that 30,000 people a year are killed in gun violence nationally. Again, I could cut and paste my other blog entries over and over in my appeal to banish guns from every human being on planet earth, and to banish the images of guns in every form of advertisement on planet earth. Guns are the worst invention of an industry ever. If only it was possible to go back in time before guns existed. Is another world possible. Peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind. And what does this have to do with a No Police State?
Day of Labour
According to the Gregorian Calendar, tomorrow marks the beginning of Labor Day weekend in America. And at first thought, I would assume this is another American holiday that is observed only in America and no where else in the world. I guess it’s meaning is what the advertisers say; back to work, back to school, end of summer, beginning of fall. And the word “Work” comes to my mind as I translate it’s different meanings. “Work in Spanish, trabajar which sounds like trouble in English which sounds like travel in English which sounds like travile in French which translates to pain in French which sounds like pan in English which translates to bread in Spanish which is dollar in English which translates to dolores in Spanish which means pain in Spanish again.” And so this translation makes me think it is all money, travel and pain again and this verse from the Bible comes to mind. “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”. 1 Timothy 6:10. Workers of the world unite. And what does this have to do with a No Police State? Happy Labor day weekend.
