And nublu, that really cool club and bar found on the Lower East Side now called the East Village for real estate marketing purposes maybe, is having a Jazz Festival November 5th through the 22nd. I know because their website says so. And that seemingly cool, what can the music be described as, brass band, New Orleans style, marching band or some other description of a name jazz band underground horns will be playing there at Nublu as part of their jazz festival in seemingly a couple of days from now, oh, tomorrow as I blah blog this post, on November 11th at 9pm also. 3rd Ward
Hey Bloggers, and 3rd ward is having a party. I know because this weeks Nonsense NYC list says so. And in case you haven’t heard, Nonsense NYC is that cool list of all these happening events throughout that city of New York on the seemingly underground and aboveground maybe, cultural art, music and entertainment scene. And so they list as one of their many weekly events that 3rd ward is having this what seems like the be all to end all with just about everyone that one can think of on the arts and cultural entertainment scene and beyond to make this party. And that event is described as follows.
XXXXX SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 XXXXX
Nonsense NYC presents:
10
A one-night physical manifestation of the Nonsense NYC email list, celebrating 10 years of weird art and culture coverage in New York City. Featuring artwork by 75 artists and collectives, an all-night dance party, and performances every five minutes. With eight installation theater spaces and a spectacular spectacle on a brand new floor at one of the best venues in Brooklyn.
From 7-9p, artists, collectives, and makers look into the future with a salon-style gallery show on the main floor. The enemy of anyone celebrating 10 years in New York is nostalgia. To fight it, we decided to ask what people want to see in the *next* 10 years. The response is overwhelming: 75 visions of what culture could be like in the next decade. From Rubulad’s line-up to swim races in the Gowanus Canal, from the Danger’s antics to the Bruce High Quality Foundation’s gender benders, you’ll see it here first.
Then, from 9p-1a, we turn the brand-new second floor space into eight different theatrical venues for a series of intimate performances starting every five minutes. You will not be able to attend everything; No one will. But a very limited number of people will witness very special events performed just for them. Featuring Lauren Darling’s Hungry for More, a Lady Circus Clothing Swap, and Sxip’s Quarter Hour of Charm among other delights. Be there to get tickets early.
At 1a we celebrate 10 years with a special commemorative performance and open up the entire space for dancing amid the performance detritus. Featuring DJs Joro Boro, Dirty Finger, Jaiko, Small Change, and Justin Carter until very, very late. More music by Raya Brass Band and King Expressers.
This is a special night. Dress like it.

Suzy’s Song
Hey Bloggers, Suzy Sellout has got a song. And it’s called Suzy Sellouts songs that can be found on her MySpace page and beyond. And I know Suzy Sellouts has got a song because that email I read from her says so. And if I can blah blog that if I had one of those chances to sellout for a song, I probably would want to be one of those sellouts also, maybe. And Suzy Sellout is in a band, and they are Kathrine Becker, Spencer Cohen, Dan Davine, Chris Wengert, Lindsay Haughton, Chris Bonner and Pete O’Connell. And if you happen to be looking to hear Suzy’s songs, you can find them on her sellout CD that rocks. And in other thoughts, what the heck are those glaring neon light blaring television screen like advertisements on the side of those city buses to be found in that city of New York that seems to have appeared out of nowhere that one can see from seemingly a mile away they are so blue hue light bright. Is this the MTA NYC Transit everything in that city of New York can be a walking, riding, going my way advertisement. Isn’t that a distraction for going ones way? And if the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority could plaster the sidewalks and the air with advertisements, they would probably do that too, maybe. Oh, they may already be doing that also. Have a great music, advertisement going ones way day.![]()
A Naked Cowboy For Mayor
Hey Bloggers , or anyone who happens to be reading this blog, have you heard? The Naked Cowboy is running for Mayor. I know because practically every newspaper, radio station and television news report from yesterday says so. And The Naked Cowboy Rocks, or at least busks away on just about any given day to be found in Times Square in that City of New York. And what else is there to blah blog about that hasn’t already been said about The Naked Cowboy, his underpants, cowboy boots and his guitar. And then there’s that Times Square Alliance best of the buskers entertainment series, as Times Square is going green with its pedestrian plaza, it’s the new thing. And according to yesterdays Metro Newspaper and The Naked Cowboys website also, his campaign slogan is “Because nobody has done more with less”. Though Naked Cowboy is not alone in his race for Mayor of that city of New York, there’s also Jimmy McMillan of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party, the Reverend Billy Talen of the Church of Stop Shopping Choir and others as well. And hey, here’s a video of a band and that Naked Cowboy in Times Square performing as part of the Times Square Alliance Best of the Buskers entertainment series at the new Father Duffy Square. Have a great Naked Cowboy For Mayor day.
A Central Park Music Day
And as I take a break from watching, listening and reading the Michael Jackson mania in the news on this day that has seemingly preempted all other news and gripped a nation with his passing away this past week, I find myself posting this blog posting about Underground Horns busking away in Central Park somewhere around 72nd Street Central Park West in that city of New York the other day. And that band seems to underground and above ground brass band, marching band rock. So much that I thought to post this photo and video of them busking away in Central Park on a Sunday afternoon. And then there are those roller skaters in that roller skating rink of that park right near there, and a great way to get some rollerskating music in also, as hasn’t that skating rink been around that Central Park area every Sunday seemingly a New York forever. And those roller skaters roller skating rock also. And even then more there was that Central Park Summerstage just over the hill with its music musicing from way afar, and Oumou Sangare, Les Nubians and Asa were performing there that day, and that line seemed so Central Park long, that I seemed to have found myself camping out on the grass along with like tons of other people just listening to the music on the hill from afar for lack of attempting to stand in that long, long, long line to get in to the Central Park Summerstage itself. And that music rocked also. And Underground Horns, that band again, they will be playing with Okai, Regime Change, Negus World Order and more friends at Bar Sputnik later this month. And Okai, Underground Horns,Regime Change, and Negus World Order, well they just Regime Change, Underground Horns and Negus World Order music rock. Have a great music day.![]()
An Oliva NYC Nite
And so I found myself at that Oliva Restaurant & Bar the other night in search of a band that seems to have transformed itself into another band performing an episode from some sort of band drama there that night and the hosting of an illusion of some sort. And what a confusing Oliva Restaurant and Bar live music East Village night scenario it was there indeed on the New York City music scene of bands who can sometimes seem as if they are other bands. And so I found myself in Times Square yesterday watching The Underground Horns and The Naked Cowboy performing at Duffy Square. And their performances so New York City rocked that I thought to post this video of them. Have a great New York City music day.
A Brooklyn Celebration

And even though it sometimes seems as if the world can be going to hell in a handbasket and the world is falling down all around me, I still find myself blah blogging for some reason. And then every so often I find myself posting blog entries about events because, hey, it’s less writing sometimes. And still I sometimes ask myself, how do those other bloggers out there bloggerlandville do it? How does one maintain and attempt to maintain more than one blog with content whenever possible. Is there an internet guru to answer this question. And so again, I find myself posting another one of those events in that city of New York that seemingly never sleeps, as follows:
Celebrate Brooklyn: Yes, it seems to be that time of year again for this really cool annual summer concert series of music, dance, word and film festival out there in Prospect Park, Park Slope Brooklyn at the Prospect Park bandshell that makes for good picnics on that grassy lawn. And some of those performers for this years festival include: David Byrne, Goran Bregovic and his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra, David Rudder, Samantha Thornhill, Ethel, Gutbucket, Le Nave de los Monstruos, Femi Kuti and Positive Force, Melvin Gibbs’ Elevated Entity, Blonde Redhead, Phosphorescent, Rebel Diaz, Cucu Diamantes, Los Amigos Invisibles, Aterciopelados, Streb, They Might Be Giants, Claudia Marshall, Kronos Quartet, Luminescent Orchestrii, Robert Cray, The Sweet Divines, King Sunny Ade, Mandingo Ambassadors, Abena Koomson, Sing Sing, Yasser Darwish, Jackson Browne, Stephen Petronio Company, Buckwheat Zydeco, The Holmes Brothers, Kailash Kher, Electro Morocco, Burning Spear, Naomi Shelton and The Gospel Queens, John Scofield, Soulive, Christian Scott, Dumpstaphunk, Grace Potter, The Nocturnals, Deer Tick, The London Souls, TV On The Radio, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal, Animal Collective and more. And this festival Prospect Park Rocks.
And then there’s going to be a house party:
It’s time to party. Dance till you can’t dance no more. Underground Horns will be playing at the EastRev underground loft party, June 27th, at The Lake in Bushwick Brooklyn with Karuhata, Alex Genin, Marionette Roulette, DJ Emma Sound Sista, DJ Joro Boro, Big Sister and more. And I thought to post this flyer of their event above because it looks way cool to me with it’s colors and all. And this event Bushwick Rocks.
Oh, and then there’s also Make Music New York June 21st. And this entry I just copy from my Myspace page:

Summertime
And so it must be rolling up again at the end of spring and the beginning of summer again this year as that Gregorian calender on the wall and the weather outside here in that country of North America could say so. And I also know it is summertime coming up because this past weeks edition of the Village Voices Summer Arts Guide 2009 says so. And every so often I find myself blah blogging about events of this blog because hey, it’s less writing sometimes. And some of those on the music scene and be seen music events and beyond that they have listed going on this summer seems to be that annual River To River Festival in that City of New York that’s happening with it’s opening date of Memorial Day, May 31st, that’s video, photo, festivals, music and more with performers that include Bang on A Can Marathon, Conor Oberst, Arlo Guthrie, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, New York City Opera, Brian Stokes, Mitchell, Zvi Dance, Luminescent Orchestrii, Emmet Cohen Trio, A Castle Clinton Tribute to Woodstock – Richie Havens, King Britt Sun Ra Lectric:Saturn Never Sleeps, Miles Davie Electric Funk And Beyond with Badal Roy, Michael Henderson, Kenny Wessell , Karsh Kale and Timeline, Junior Mance and more as their list of performing artists goes on.
And then there’s the
Vision 14 Festival from Arts for Art, that who’s on the jazz scene festival that seems to happen yearly. And this festival is happening this summer also at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in that City of New York with performers Marshall Allen and the Sun Ra Arkestra, Fred Anderson, Billy Bang, Rob Brown, Roy Campbell, Ernest Dawkins, Douglas Ewart, Charles Gayle, Peter Brotzmann Full Blast Trio, Ras Moshe, William Hooker, Jason Kao Hwang, Kidd Jordan, Joe McPhee, Milford Graves, Joe Morris, Sunny Mujrray, Zim Ngqawana, William Parker, Michelle Rosewoman, Matthew Ship, Lisa Sokolov and Butch Morris.
And there must be lots and lots of more seemingly endless events, happenings and beyond going on in this town because as far as I know, it’s that city of New York, that city that never sleeps. Or does it. Have a great event day.![]()
