Shows in Tompkins Square Park

Hey again bloggers or whoever could be reading this blagh  It’s been a while since I last posted anything on this blagh. And so in between watching the world seemingly go to hell in a hand basket these past few days, weeks or months, I found myself attempting to vend those Tompkins Square Park t – shirts and Black Lives Matter jewelry at Tompkins Square Park in that city of New York this past weekend. And according to that Facebook event invite that I created for Chris Flash‘s next show in Tompkins Square Park, it read something like:

Mark this one on your calendar

Chris’s next Shows in Tompkins Square Park concerts in New York City are on

• April 26
• May 10
• May 24
• June 8

And there are more to be announced!!!!

And I am planning to vend Tompkins Square Park t – shirts for $10 each.

And check out Andrea Troeger’s OUR F#CKING PARK: Rebellion, Noise, and Punk Rock in Tompkins Square Park book! A new photo book of beautiful raw portraits of the artists keeping the music alive—real faces, real noise, shot between 2019 and 2024 in Tompkins Square Park.

This amazing book will be for sale at the SHADOW table at the shows in Tompkins Square Park.

And according to that Shows in Tompkins Square Park Facebook page:

There are more, but these are the next four shows we are doing in Washington Square Park and in Tompkins Square Park:

In Washington Square Park:

• May 4: The Return of ROCK AGAINST RACISM, featuring:

Mark Dillon + the Roots Revival, Frida Kill, ADIXION, REBELMATIC and RICANSTRUCTION

In Tompkins Square Park:

• June 8: WASTE FEST FIVE show, featuring: Complete Fucker, Blackout Shoppers, DYI, Angry Corpses, FANG and, of course, URBAN WASTE

All shows are from 2pm – 6pm

The only thing constant is change and some stories do not end as you expect. And what, if anything, does this have to do with a No Police State. Have a great music and more day.

A Fly – O – Art & Carla Holiday Market!

loisaida

newyear

It is Christmas as I type this blog post, the day of Christ or Jesus Christ’s day of birth, a few days until a new year according to that Gregorian calendar. A 123123 years end has rolled around here on planet earth and Israel is still at war as Jesus is in rubble and Christmas is Cancelled in Bethlehem, Jesus birthplace , there are “Free Gaza” protests happening on a seemingly daily basis in the New York City area and I am wondering if it is still a Dark Winter 2023.

And so this Fly – O – Art & Carla Holiday Market! in that city of New York, that finds itself posted in those photos and videos above, has also been a Morus Holiday Market that I have found myself vending at in years past, also turned into a Fly E bike story for Fly Orr who found herself posting on her Instagram page a few days before the holiday market:

Broken wrist. Got run over today. I mean yesterday by an E bike that took me down and then took off. Spent about seven hours in the ER before they finally put a cast on me. I am smiling because I am happy to be home finally but the pain is pretty bad. I can definitely say though that getting hit by an E bike is less painful than getting run over by an SUV so. .. There’s that. Six weeks they say. Ugh… I am doing my big annual holiday art sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Carla at the museum of reclaimed urban space. I have new Zine hot off the press. And some other cool stuff. But I left too much to the last minute, so it’s going to be, hard to get it all finished. Please come by the Art sale and say hi or just hang out or buy a new Zine or some cool holiday cards etc. I would really love to see my peoples.

And if I could rant and rave, I would reply to that e bike story that “These DoorDash, Grubhub and delivery for speed apps suck. I wish someone would get rid of these ebikes and scooters. They are a menace to society, outpacing cars for pedestrian injuries. I am scared to walk down the street because of them. These ebikes are not regulated and should require licenses and insurance for them, and that’s not even including the lithium battery fires they are causing.’

And so the Facebook event invite for this event reads something like:

Join us. Fly – O – Art & Carla Holiday Market! Holiday ( & Any Day). Hand – stamped & signed greeting cards….Zines, Pins, Books, T-Shirts, Jewelry, CDs, etc… + Fly-O-Art Prints… & some free stuff!!

AND

Lotsa MoRUS Merch!

Friday. Dec 22. Sat. Dec 23. & Sun. Dec. 24. 1-6pm at Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space – MORUS

And thank you Frank Morales, for taking those “Manhattan” and “Money”  boxes out of my closet that’s been sitting there for years, and thank you Fly’s friend for buying that “Death Tarot Card” box that’s been sitting in the closet for years. And thank you Katie and Elana for buying one of those Tompkins Square Park and Washington Square Park t shirts. Your Survival Without Rent film is really cool.

And then there is a Facebook photo from Frank Gonzalez that I came across in facebookland that reads:

Please join us for the first annual New Year’s Eve Brunch at the Loisaida CommUnity Office. Special thanks to Kareem Holmes Big City Tourism Loisaida Realty lescommunityconcerns19 & LES Small Biz Alliance #LESsba #NewYearsBrunch #CommUnity

and

These gardens grew out of burnt out and abandoned lots after years of neglect, quite often due to the purposeful destruction of properties by unethical landlords. In marginalized areas of the city, people banded together to reclaim unused land for the betterment of their communities. They created beautiful and safe spaces for children to play and learn about nature, and for neighbors to plant, grow a garden, and gather together. Every year there are hundreds of events, educational workshops, and food distribution initiatives in the many gardens that dot our urban landscape.
Community gardens by nature are activist spaces and the fight continues to protect and preserve these spaces that are constantly under threat by urban development. This show is an artistic exploration and expression to celebrate what is possible through solidarity, commitment and love.
ALL TOMORROW’S GARDENS is co sponsored by LUNGS, Art Loisaida Foundation, Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space – MORUS and More Gardens….

Have a great All Tomorrow’s Gardens day and more here on planet earth.

A BNB Hardcore Concert That Began Or Ended It All At Tompkins Square Park

IMG_3967

There was a hardcore concert at Tompkins Square Park this past weekend, which I thought was actually a punk rock concert or a heavy metal concert or both. And I know that there was a Black N’ Blue Productions hardcore concert at Tompkins Square Park this past weekend because this Facebook event invite says so, and all of these news articles that have since appeared as a result of that concert say so also. And it was a really big concert, so big that the crowd of concert goers , some wearing masks and some not wearing masks has since become a big to free your face or not to free your face debate.

And in between attempting to vend those Black Lives Matter I Can’t Breathe, Not My President, S#!t Just Got Real, Occupy Wall Street, No Police State, Tompkins Square ParkUnion Square ParkWashington Square ParkMuseum of Reclaimed Urban SpaceThe ShadowFrida Kahlo, Yoga, Brooklyn and I Love New York necklaces, magnets, key chains and pins and Black Lives Matter hats and tote bags at this concert, it was seen that there were many other vendors at this concert, which almost seemed like a festival also.

Someone was handing out Defund The NYPD flyers on Avenue A in front of the park, the Hare Krishnas and Chilis on Wheels were serving food, East River Park Action. band merchandise tables and The Shadow had tables there also and there was even a yard sale going on during this really big concert.

And surely that was Clayton Patterson who was at this concert who finds himself in one of those photos posted above. And thanks @angieisallright for helping me to vend that Black Lives Matter jewelry at that table and chair from morus for one quick second.

And with future Shows in Tompkins Square Park possibly in jeopardy as a result of this really big concert, the concert schedule reads as follows:

“HEY KIDS! Put these TSP show dates for 2021 on your calendar:

 > April 24: BLACK + BLUE PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS: MAD BALL – Murphy’s Law – Bloodclot – The Capturers. Donations will be accepted with a portion of the proceeds to go to New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation
 > May 8: A7 BACK TO THE NYHC ROOTS Record Release show: Antidote NYHC – Kings Never Die – The Last Stand – Crazy Eddie – The Car Bomb Parade – Reaching Out
 > May 22: WASTE FEST 2: Brought to you by the fine folks of Urban Waste
> June 13: Sewage, Hammerbrain, Sea Monster and The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, with surprise guests!
> June 26: F-Bomb: Brought to you by Mike SOS
> July 10: F-Bomb: Brought to you by Mike SOS
> August 7 + 8: TSP RIOT REUNION > September 11: F-bomb: Brought to you by Mike SOS
> September 25: Something special brought to you by Black + Blue Productions
 > October 9: F-Bomb: Brought to you by Mike SOS
> October 30: TSP HALLOWEEN show

And, as seen on Reddit:

Finally a solution.

Apparently punk rock stops the spread of Covid.

No masked needed while rocking out.

Everyone looks happy. That is nice

And as I type this blog post a few days later, there are now articles that read, Permits pulled for upcoming Tompkins Square Park shows following Madball show

We are living in crazy times. And what, if anything, does this have to do with a No Police State. Have a great punk rock hardcore concert day and more. #blacklivesmatter

Underground Horns After A Halloween In Tompkins Square Park!

Underground Horns were playing at Tompkins Square Park this past Halloween weekend. Well, not exactly, as they were busking across the street at St Marks Place.

And it was earlier that day that I had said to myself that I had take photos with that camera at that event burnout on that day that I attempted to vend those Black Lives Matter necklaces, magnets, key chains & pins and Black Lives Matter hats at Halloween in Tompkins Square Park! And instead of taking a bunch of photos with that camera that I did not take to that event, instead, it became take a bunch of random photos with that cell phone that I took to this event. And after that Halloween in Tompkins Square Park! ended, and Seth’s slideshow began, it became a Halloween night that I ran into Underground Horns who were playing on St Mark’s Place, only to read on Facebook later that there was also a dance bus parked on Avenue A, Hungry March Band played, and there was a dance party and bike parade later that Halloween night in Tompkins Square Park.

And Shows in Tompkins Square Park Facebook event invite reads like:

With the exception of a few brave creative souls who have set up independently, we’ve all been robbed of shows in the park this year. So, on Halloween, we are putting on the biggest one of them all, as our final show for 2020.

In addition to the following performers, we will have political speakers, info tables, publications and arts + crafts created by community members:

> PINC LOUDS
> B.B. YTK
> M. LAMAR
> EDDIE BAKER
> RUCKUS INTERRUPTUS
> THE CARVELS NYC
> SOUL CAKE
> WICKED EXORCIST RITUAL
> THE VOLUPTUOUS HORROR OF KAREN BLACK

Following the show, WW3 ILLUSTRATED co-founder and artist Seth Tobocman will present slides of his anti-Trump comics, with the help of musicians Eric Blitz and John Wagner. Michelle Shocked will perform her blues lament, Graffiti Limbo, honoring the life of Michael Stewart, a young artist who died in police custody in 1983. There were no charges for the murder. R. Sikoryak will read and show images of The Bill of Rights and selected Amendments, from his new graphic novel, Constitution Illustrated.

The fun begins at 1:00pm SHARP!

[Stay tuned here for more details]

If only every day were Halloween then we would be free to be who we want to be.  And as I type this blagh post a few days later after Halloween has passed,  New York City is boarded up again and Luxury retailers are ‘planning for the worst’ on Election Day in anticipation of riots and looting — no matter the result. Have a great Blogger day, if possible, during these crazy and historical times we are living in. #blacklivesmatter

Hey again bloggers or whoever could be reading this blagh. And in the midst of that scary virus that came from out of nowhere, and other headline news of the day, there was a  Tompkins Square Arts + Book Fair! at Tompkins Square Park this past weekend.  I know because that Facebook event invite that reads like as follows says so:

Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

The first annual TOMPKINS SQUARE Arts + Crafts and Book Fair is ON!

Come and get works of art, hand made crafts, books, records, videos, and more, all offered by members of your community on the Lower East Side.

There will also be book readings, musicians and speakers.

At dusk, we will be showing the amazing film called LOOSE CHANGE.

LOOSE CHANGE is an in-depth documentary created by students who originally sought to make a documentary that supported the official government version of the incredible events of September 11, 2001. However, as their project progressed, it became clear to them that the official story was NOT credible and that the TRUTH is a whole lot worse than the narrative of foreign terrorists hijacking commercial jets in the US and then crashing them.

LOOSE CHANGE, created on the smallest imaginable budget by students, is superior to anything churned out by state media that backs the govt’s LIES about “9-11”.

Come see LOOSE CHANGE in our beloved Tompkins Square Park and decide for yourself.

[Those interested in participating in selling, trading or giving stuff away (there are NO fees!) can either email us at: shadowpress@rocketmail.com or just come on down.]

And it was also another attempt for me to vend those DecorForU black lives matter, s#!t just got real, not my president, no police state, occupy wall street, yoga, squat, the shadow,  museum of reclaimed urban space , tompkins square park, brooklyn & I love new york necklaces, magnets, key chains & pins for $2 each again. And it was also another one of those Saturdays where Pinc Louds was playing there again. And Pinc Louds gets everyone to dance, dance and more dancing.  And Pinc Louds shared the stage with other artists and performers from the arts and book fair on this day.  And there were other vendors, and food carts, and cheap clothes for sale on this day, something similar to one of those park yard sale bazaars maybe. And The Shadow, who sponsored this event, had their The Shadow Newspaper and other Shadow merchandise for sale on their merchandise table. And as the day wore on and dusk appeared, and Pinc Louds Christmas lights went on into the night as they played, Chris Flash‘s 9/11 film appeared for film night, as some of those photos posted above tell a story.  And Chris Flash’s Shows in Tompkins Square Park are having another concert September 26th—-COME ON DOWN!!! Bring your dancing shoes I guess. #blacklivesmatter
