And while I am on the topic of music, according to lots of newspaper listings, The CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival is happening this week October 16-20th. And that also leads me to wonder, what exactly does the letters CMJ stand for? C Music something J. There will be music, films and panels at this event. It seems to be all rock, indie rock, all the time and more. There will be music, music and more music and bands, bands and more bands performing in venues around the New York City area such as Union Pool, Bowery Ballroom, Southpaw, Canal Room, The Delancey, The Annex, Arlene’s Grocery, The Knitting Factory, The Music Hall Of Williamsburg, Studio B, Mercury Lounge, B.B. Kings, Cake Shop, Europa, Luna Lounge, Maxwell’s, Ace of Clubs, Club Midway, Galapagos, Glasslands, Gramercy Theatre, Hammerstein Ballroom, Living Room, Pianos, Webster Hall, Avalon, Joe’s Pub, Lion’s Den, The Village Underground, The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza and more. These places rock. If you are in the neighborhood, you may want to check out the music that is part of this festival. And a lot of those bands have some really funny, cool and interesting names that are entertainment alone. Some of the bands, organizations and groups scheduled to perform as part of the festival are:
Celebration, Brooklyn Vegan Showcase, Die Romantik, M.I.A., Wise Intelligent, Me Talk Pretty, Bella Noir, Mates of State, Oh My Rockness, Meat Puppets, Finally Punk, A Place to Bury Strangers, Palomar, The Temple of Hip-Hop, The Epochs, Phonograph, Little Brazil, The End of the World, The Cops, Elizabeth Harper, Music for Ice Cream Trucks, Spinto Band, King Of Prussia, U.S.S.R., Earl Greyhound, The Insomniacs, The Jealous Girlfriends, Kudu, Roxy Cottontail, O’Death, Band of Horses, Sex With An Angel, Burnt Sugar, Devils, Chop Shop, Gold Streets, Hollywood Holt, Dirty on Purpose, Matt and Kim, Harlem Shakes, Flosstradamus, Slaves to Gravity, The Panderers, Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping, The Cool Kids, Catfish Haven and a ton of others. This seems like an event not to be missed. Have a great rock n’ roll day.
