Seasons Greetings

Now this is a first in a while in my attempt to blah blog my way to riches, even on that holy day of the year, Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, Festivus, or whatever ones religion or choice of this day may be. And I can’t wait any longer to post on this blog. It’s been about four days since my last posting, as I try to post a blog entry on this blog whenever possible. And usually I post those pay you to post and blog posts on this blog every so often, so I was hoping this blog entry could be one of those. And it is not, as the get rich Internet quick blog world for this blog seems to be somewhere else at the moment. So this could be a first in that usual routine of posting since Google sent me to looking for a fifth day job after that recent page ranking update I guess about a while ago now. And despite this new found get rich Internet quickless missing scene, I find my self blogging along.

This day is the day of Christ. Christmas. More of Christ. Jesus is the reason for the season. And it is also a full moon and a few days after that winter sun solstice where the days get longer or shorter or someting. And here I find myself blah blogging away. And I received another one of those emails a few days ago from a friend who sent it to their list of friends. And the email is about Jesus Christ, or is it about shopping and the economy? I gather this time of the year would be an appropriate time to repost it, as it is Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christ according to the Gregorian calendar, or some calendar. And if you happen to be in the New York City area, Trash Worship Recycle And Pray will be having a save the Christmas trees that get thrown out of their homes the day after Christmas, or even the day of Christmas funeral procession and ceremony or something. Christ And The Holiday Christmas

If your purpose or intent is to honor the person or teachings of Jesus
Christ, here are a few examples of how you can really celebrate Christmas.

1- Forgive someone you have a longstanding grudge or problem with.

8- Be a peacemaker between people in strife.

9- Love someone who is hard to love.

10- Try to not be judgmental.

The worst thing about Christmas is that the very same people who favor
warmongering, slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent people,
torture and our status as the world’s largest arms producer and purveyor
of violence will go to church and sing about how they love the Prince of
Peace, the swarthy little Middle Eastern baby Jesus…

I agree that Xmas is too commercial & starts way too early (my main
gripe about it), but I’m mystified by all the articles on AlterNet that
advocate not buying anything, ever. I work in retail. Are you folks
trying to drive me out of a job?

It seems exactly as if you want to shut down the retail sector entirely
in the season where it makes 40% of sales, drive millions of people out
of work, and cause another Great Depression.

Burn me at the stake for uttering heresy, but the real issue in
Christmas is in fact, retail.

A retail industry person above pointed out that if everybody quit buying
stuff, the retail industry would suffer and by extension, the rest of
the economy.

This is true, but that is also the crux of a dilemma. The consumer
economy as we know it was really ramped up after WWII as a means of
keeping the level of economic activity from the war years going, but
transitioning to a manufacturing and retail mode. Advertising really
kicked into high gear because there was a need to turn thrifty, penny
pinching Americans into big spenders.

Now, as we look at the big picture, we see that all this focus on
consumer economics has created a dependency that in the long run is
unsustainable. America, a very small percentage of the world population
consumes an very outsize portion of all the resources in the world. We
are entering an era, for instance, in which gasoline prices will
continue to rise because the overall resource supply versus demand will
be less and less in the consumer’s favor.

I recently went through a long and exhausting process of working through
a house full of Christmas gifts from as far back as the 1930s and trying
to figure out how to sell of give it away. That is the ultimate end of
the rush to buy stuff for Christmas.

You have to ask, if you have any interest in where all this is going,
what happens if an economy based on making, transporting, selling,
storing, and reselling stuff can no longer be relied on? Then what?

I think that, to point out that our economic bag of tricks only has one
trick – to sell stuff – is correct and that people buying less stuff
will impair the retail goose laying our golden eggs. However, I think it
is short sighted to stop there. We need to develop more tricks in our
economic bag of tricks and to find other ways of generating jobs and
wealth aside from choking the world with more and more stuff, and
depleting resources to do it. Really, we have to if we are going to
survive in the long term.

These are all good comments, especially the one about the false idea
that giving is mostly a Christian concept. What was the author thinking
on that one? Giving is part of all religions and nonbelievers as well.
Material consumption has nothing to do with God. People give to make
people happy or out of guilt of reciprocity or even to get sex. We have
been lied to by corporations in this country and bought it hook, line
and sinker. We have lost everything that makes us human except our very
bodies. The average Americans has less than three close friends. That
tells a whole story on its own.

We are headed into a depression of historic proportions that will make
the Great Depression look like a bad day at the beach. It wasn’t caused
by people not purchasing. It was caused by the illegal private company
The Federal Reserve printing money out of thin air and causing inflation
with nothing to back our currency since the gold standard ended.

People keep asking if it’s possible to break this cycle. Yes it’s
possible but it is not likely. Americans are besieged with consumerism
and corporations will not do the moral thing. They are cold-blooded
profit-making machines. That is abhorrent to the natural state of man
except for the few authoritarians that run the world. People in this country don’t
read anymore and when they do it’s usually lies and propaganda. They
never consider the biases of their sources. All news is controlled by
five media companies and soon to be even less.

Wartella Rocks

I can remember Stan Mack’s Real Life Funnies in the Village Voice from days ago. And now those recent Wartella cartoons in the Village Voice each week are funny as heck. They are hilarious and ingenious in their depiction of life, current events and topics of the day and times. Lately, every time I grab one of those papers from the red box on the corner, the colorful drawings appear with those balloon captions with people saying the funniest things from different walks of life. And the drawings usually have a political statement to them with whatever the topic and situation is at hand. I tried to save that police surveillance state one Wartella did a few months ago, but it is lost somewhere now. And I keep wanting to make a collection of them because they are so funny, but that never happens. And this weeks cartoon is titled “Welcome To Laguardia” with a phrase “Check your privacy at the door” spray painted on the wall. And there are security guards with scowls on their faces scanning people with pajamas on and pockets turned out with their hands up in the air. And then there is the TSA officer who is watching Sanford and Son reruns. And there are always usually the typical stereotype of people in those drawings, the rich, the poor, the homeless, and different nationalities of people. And every ones flight has been cancelled in this drawing. And then there is the sigh “Attention, making jokes or statements during the screening process may be grounds for criminal or civil penalties. And although Wartella’s cartoons seem to be a parody of life, they are real. These weekly cartoons are awesome. Wartella Rocks.

A Gun Bill

There was a headline in the news yesterday on the Yahoo homepage that read “Gun bill inspired by “A place where gun violence occurred”, and the article went on to say something about the mentally ill will be targeted and asked for documentation when they go to buy guns. Hugh? Is not the problem with guns that guns are sold everywhere to anyone at all, and not the people.

And there was a sales excerpt in this past weeks Sunday newspaper for a sports store. This advertisement was for the hunting section of their store and it pictured a man dressed in camouflage with a gun tossed over his shoulder and there were photos of guns and rifles with brand names and fancy descriptions for sale all over the page. Are people animals who are people to be hunted? Is hunting for animals and people now considered a sport to be sold in the malls of America and on sales brochures next to roller skates and advertised in the papers for all to see. Is this not the same? Is not the problem that the images of guns are found in television, film, commercials, posters, newspapers, cartoons, video games and marketing and advertisements everywhere these days. Does not advertising influence society.

I could cut and paste my blog entries over and over in my appeal to abolish guns. Guns are the worst invention of an industry ever. Everyday someone loses their lives to random acts of gun violence for no reason at all except for the fact that guns have been invented. It is a story that has been told yesterday and will be told tomorrow with no end in sight. It is an industry that feeds on itself, advertisement breeds crime which breeds news, which breeds crime, which breeds more advertisement which breeds more crime. Will the cycle of the beast that has it’s grip on humanity ever end. Should not guns be abolished from humanity as a whole, from everyone on the face of planet earth.

And then there is that constitutional 4th amendment, the right to bear arms that should be abolished or rewritten to abolish guns and replace them with sticks and stones or something. The idea that property, material goods are worth more than life. And the whole world is paying with the loss of human life which seems to be a disposal commodity in the war industry of people against humanity. Occupy the nra.

And my friend gave me a flyer as we were discussing the latest atrocity of the day in relation to gun violence. It is a flyer she received back in April at Union Square Park of New York City. And it is a flyer about gun violence and psychiatry. The Pharmaceutical industry is bigger than the war industry. Psychiatry Kills. Abolished forced psychiatric treatment. And what’s that “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” film by Ken Kesey all about anyway. That’s a whole another blog posting. For all things human rights and psych cia trickery and alternatives to the mental death system, Mindfreedom is a great website to visit. I am one voice, one blogger. Is another world possible. Peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind. And what does this have to do with a No Police State?

What caused the tragedy in “this state”?

It was reported in the Times and the Post Wednesday:

The killer had been taking anti-depressants.

All too often in the present age, we hear the tragic news of a senseless massacre somewhere in the country. Experience has shown, that the killer has almost always, if not absolutely always, been someone who had been prescribed anti-depressants.

The killers with names were kids who had been prescribed the anti-depressant ritalin.
The man who shot someone at this place had been prescribed an anti-depressant whose classic symptom is extreme rage directed at one specific person. The killers in the recent massacres in three different states, also one in another state, had been taking various prescription anti depressants.

Pharmaceutical drugs are prescribed, not as a last resort but as a first thought, not hesitantly but hastily and with excess. They are not properly used, but abused, with no thought of the side effects of taking chemicals which nature did not produce and evolution did not plan for us to be subjected to, like bug spray or insecticide. And this is not a small and isolated phenomenon, but rather a deliberate and systematic poisoning of the bodies and minds of the American people, on an epidemic scale.

The concentration of power, Mr. Moneybags, the State, which controls the American military-industrial complex and the pharmaceutical chemical companies that are an integral part of that system, the State, which, as Eisenhower warned, would one day gain undue influence and endanger our Liberties, has an interest in promoting this epidemic scourge of prescription drug use. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year, are made by the corporations that sell these drugs. It is big business. In addition, the State which experience has shown, for thousands of years all over the globe, tends to want to empower itself and dis-empower the People, gets exactly that benefit from this epidemic of drug use. Power and authority, competency and incompetency breeds corruption. It dis-empowers individuals by making them unhealthy. And it dis-empowers the community and the nation, by making people distrustful of each other; by making people think that their neighbor is a crazy person who they must be protected from; by persuading the People to accept, even to demand, increased police power of the State to protect them. Under such conditions even the will to independence vanishes.

The innovations of scientists and engineers are stolen and subverted by the concentrations of power; a virtue has become a vice, and chemical technology, which can and of right ought to be a liberating force in society, becomes enslaving.

Doctors are encouraged, by the drug industry, to prescribe artificial drugs to their patients. It is a regular practice, for the drug companies to pay a doctor a fee every time that doctor prescribes one of their drugs. It is no secret. In this way, the basic essential character of the American medical profession becomes one of conflict of interest.

The companies that make these drugs exert a great deal of pressure upon the mass media. There are huge advertising contracts, and there is an overlap of ownership between the drug companies and the media companies. The fact that a mass murderer was taking prescription drugs, is one of those things that will show up once in the newspapers, but is immediately and finally buried, and mum becomes the word.

There have been a thousand analyses of the killer in papers, of his history, his personality, his psychological problems; there have been a thousand demands for increased police powers; there have been a thousand calls for the outlawing of guns, and a general de-clawing of the People. But has anyone asked, how is it that society produces so many sick people?

Prescription anti-depressants are known to be a common cause of suicide; they are known to be a constant presence in senseless massacres. Surely the number of individual murders caused by these drugs must be many times greater than the number of massacres. And if there are so many suicides and murders, how many people taking pharmaceuticals must be gravely suffering, but have not quite yet arrived at the point of suicide or murder?

This epidemic of drug use, this deliberate poisoning of the bodies and minds of the American people, this deliberate, and thus far largely successful, did-empowerment of the American people, must stop. It is our purpose to reveal this truth to the American people, so that we may once again live in a sane and healthy society and the tragic deaths of so many good people in this State shall not have been in vain.

Food flavorings? Did someone say food and flavour? It seems as if most people could like good food and the flavor of food, for that is what makes good food good, some sort of flavor, whether it be sweet, salty, spiced up or anything and everything else in between. Isn’t flavor what gives food its taste? And what would food be like with out flavor. Would food have any taste, or would it be just plain, bland food. And how could one think of a name for a fancy dish or entree if it didn’t have that appealling descriptive adjective like sweet or salty to go before the name of the dish. Well I guess it’s possible to eat plain food also but usually food with flavor rocks. And food with natural flavor rocks even more. About those foods that are manufactured up in a laboratory with chemicals names and ingredients that are too difficult or long to pronounce and a list of ingredients too innumerable to read for one ingredient, I am not sure. A Monument

What happens when a monument is destroyed and something else is put in its place? What happens when a landmark building is destroyed and another building is put in its place? What happens when whole communities are torn down and another community is put in its place. What happens with the destruction of old, historical buildings to create new and more modern buildings. Does this type of thing happen everywhere around the world these days. Is New York real estate a reflection of the world of real estate? I was watching that film “New York: A Documentary” the other day, and part of the film described how Robert Moses destroyed and built New York. The film discussed urban renewal, urban removal, urban development, urban sprawl and the displacement of people from their homes for the development of highways and cars, as cars were seen as more important or economical than people or something. And then there was the destruction of old New York for a more newer, modern New York City in this film also. And people, their community and their thoughts did not matter. Only the developers, construction engineers and money seemed to matter. Was, is this a profit before people thing or something. And there are a few emails that are in my inbox this week with the subject “Save Washington Square Park” and “Rally to save Washington Square Park”. And what happens when a historical monument, landmark structure is destroyed and replaced with another structure. Is this a reflection and representation of the city and real estate market as a whole. The destruction and construction of property for money or urban renewal or something. And who profits from this. As I saw in that film the other day, New York is ever changing. Whether that change is good or bad I am not sure. I am only sure that the only thing constant is change. And then there is CBGB”s and a host of other places that have disappeared to gentrification, genocide, or just plain change of times or other things in the end of an era. Babylon, Bael babble on. And what does this have to do with a No Police State.

The Poetry Project

Again it’s that time of year again according to the Gregorian calendar. The holiday seasons are upon us. The day of Christ is near and the party season of New Years is here. And a lot of parties there are indeed, as isn’t New Years Eve the biggest party day of the year. And then there is the day after New Years Eve in New York City. New Years Day. And one of the events that come to mind that day is the Annual News Year’s Day Marathon Reading over at St. Marks Church on the Bowery. It’s a poetry reading with seemingly over a million people reading poetry, poetry, and more poetry all day and nite and more. There is so much poetry read there that day that one could go home, cook a meal, go to sleep, wake up again, go back and they will still be there reading poetry. At least over that 24 hour period. So if you are in the New York City area and are looking for some great poetry to hear, this events looks like it may be worth checking out. Have a great poetry day.

The Lives They Left Behind

I do not know what this is all about, but sometimes I find myself reading the newspapers just to find something to blah blog about. And this time a listing in the Village Voice seemed interesting. It’s an exhibit about leftover baggage and the lives of psychiatric inmates that were left behind in a suitcase called “The Lives They Left Behind:Suitcases From a State Hospital Attic.” I guess the title may be self explanatory. In the attic of one of the abandoned buildings of a State Psychiatric Hospital building, workers discovered a stack of suitcases that belonged to former patients. Their personal belongings, along with their medical records, has inspired a fascinating exhibition at the New York Public Library. And as being anti psychiatric state and anti psych cia trick association, this is an exhibit that I would be interesting in seeing. And just the idea that ones life can be condensed to a suitcase is a lot to comprehend to me. The pharmaceutical industry seems to be bigger than the war industry these days. Psychiatry Kills. Abolish forced psychiatric treatment. For all things human rights and alternatives to psychiatry and the mental death system, Support Coalition International is a great website to visit. Ohm….

Jesus is the reason for the season and the New Year is near. And it seems as if this weekend is that weekend for all of those holiday parties and festivities that take place around this time each year, as it seems as if everyone is having their annual holiday party, office party and every other party this weekend. And as I was ohming, blissing, and nirvinaing my way towards that yoga, music and art event that I blah blogged about the other day, I thought to myself, oh my God. For what reason does the words oh my God contain the first three letters of the word Ohm. Or is it for what reason are the first three letters of the word oh my God ohm. Does that mean anything? And I guess that is another one of those rearrangement of words that I come across every so often that could be relevant or mean nothing at all. And what does the word Ohm mean anyway. YouTube. I am a fan of broadcasting yourself on YouTube. I sometimes find myself YouTubeing all day in that YouTube world of bazillions and gazillions of videos. And there is a video posted on YouTube that is an elf prank call to American Greetings with an elf talking about elves, candy canes, Rudolph and Santa’s Workshop. And the video is a joke about a funny Christmas ecard that has some great festive music going on before you play it. And I always find those ecards entertaining and fun to watch, as I send those ecards to friends every so often for whatever the occasion may be, even if it is just to watch them for fun myself.
