The Policy

The place was martiallawville, two thousand and one, and every where I looked, I saw people with guns, standing on the corners in uniform, full of torture devices if you stray from the norm. Hey bloggers, being that I am on the topic of police in these last couple of blahg postings, those are the first few words of my No Police State song that I wrote. And I call myself No Police State Girl during my blogaholic days. And No Police State Girls blog is about everything No Police State and other random thoughts. And every so often I find myself blah blogging about a No Police State. And what’s a police state anyway? A state of police? And so when I came across another blog on MyBlogLog out there in the internetland blogosphere, I thought that this blog sort of reads like mine, one of those wanna be save the world blogs, maybe. And I was asked to write a post for this blog to try and attempt to answer this very same question. What is a Police State in New York. And that blog exchange post thing sort of never happened and so I thought to post this passage on my blog anyway as a result. Well, I am not exactly quite sure what a police state in New York is but I do think it has sometyhing to do with a state of police and that New York could reflect the State of the world. And I am an artist living in New York’s Lower East Side, and I see police wherever and whenever I wander the streets around town. And what’s up with all of those police and surveillance cameras being everywhere every single step of a journey outside. Is life in New York and even the world like George Orwell’s nineteen eighty four novel. And it’s not that I have some sort of thing with the Police, its the police and those weapons and torture devices that they carry around. Is it possible that all of the police in the world could be police without guns and torture devices? Is that a utopian thought. Is another world possible? And this leads me to think about other thoughts about guns and gun violence again, and I could copy my blog posts over and over in my appeal to end gun violence. Guns are the worst invention of an industry ever. If only guns could be abolished from every human being on the face of planet earth, and banned from all forms of advertising in news media, television, newspapers, commercials, clothing and any other form of media that influences culture. And if only that, is it the fourth amendment, of the constitution could be rewritten to say the right to bear sticks and stones instead of guns, as if property is worth more than people. Wouldn’t there be less trouble in the world if guns didn’t exist. And this is a story that has been told yesterday, is told today and will be told tomorrow in the seemingly never ending cycle of the beast that feeds upon itself, that another person has lost their life to gun violence. And in other thoughts yet again, what are all of those headlines about “New York City Police begin toting submachine guns on subways” that have been in the news the past couple of days. Hugh? Hasn’t the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority thought up enough ways to terrorize its riders going their way already with its prerecorded “If you see something, say something” messages, and its random bag searches, and its cameras everywhere, and those police with attack dogs. Who are the terrorists here? Isn’t it possible for the subway and bus fares to be free and that Police, or at least their guns and attack weapons could disappear from the NYC MTA. Can the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority free its riders from oppression. It seems as if humanity is losing its civil rights in the name of security at the speed of light. And now one must be intimidated in fear and pretend that one can not possibly be machine gunned to death simply for going their way. Does Wikipedia have an entry for this as an explanation. What would Gandhi have to say about this. Is there hope for the world and society. Where is the world headed. No one is free when others are oppressed. Peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind. And what does this have to do with a No Police State?

The Fifth Of May

And today, well actually yesterday according to the clock, was cinco de mayo, the fifth of may. Isn’t that some sort of holiday. And there is a cyclone in the news, many people have lost their lives to a natural disaster to planet mother earth. And I received yet another one of those Todd Eaton emails today that seem to be all protest all the time for every single cause that one can think of to save the world. And I deleted it somehow, as I thought it interesting enough to repost again. And it was about a protest tomorrow, or Friday for the latest person to lose their life to the police and gun violence. And this leads me to asking myself that question, for what reason are there so many police in New York City, its NYC MTA subway system and the world, and are there any states without police. And actually for what reason are there guns in the world. Guns are the worst invention of an industry ever. Is it possible to have a world without guns and to banish guns from every human being on the face of planet earth and to banish guns from every form of advertising and marketing and media outlet on planet earth. Does not media and advertising influence and program society. And is it possible to rewrite that fourth amendment to say the right to bear sticks and stones, or nothing, instead of the right to bear arms, as if property is worth more than human life. And it is a story that has been told yesterday and will be told tomorrow with no end in sight, that another person loses their life to gun violence for no reason at all except for the fact that guns have been invented. It is a cycle that feeds on itself. Where is the world headed. Is another world possible. No one is free when others are oppressed. And that could be a whole another blog posting. And now I have found myself looking all over the internet for that Todd Eaton email that seems as if it is lost in internetland and seemingly does not want to be found again without an email subscription. And although I can not find it again, I came across A NY Protest Calendar website that had a similar listing posted for this event:

Wednesday May 7: Sean Bell CD volunteer or risk arrest

“people who want to volunteer and be arrested send an email or call 212-690-3070.”

Latest below had been released to NY1.com, which story claimed the Wednesday 3:00 pm meeting points were for folks actually seeking to risk arrest, not only for folks offering support. This below from Rayblin instead says you must RSVP by phone or e-mail in advance to learn CD locations.

Rayblin wrote:
For those who wish to support and not be arrested, the coalition is asking for support by appearing at any of the following sites by 3:00 pm. The locations for Wednesday’s gatherings are as follows:

1. Third Avenue at 125th Street;
2. Park Avenue at 34th Street
3. Third Avenue at 60th Street
4. Varick and Houston Streets
5. One Police Plaza; behind 1 Centre St.
6. 415 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, House of the Lord Church

Support Sean Bell and Family – Calling All Civil Disobedients

Familia,

Sean Bell’s Family seeks your support. They have solicited the support of Reverend Daughtrey, of the House of the Lord Church, the National Action Network, and various City Council Members, including Charles Barron, to work with the community to develop a people’s strategy for justice.

They have initiated organizing efforts at 1199’s Martin Luther King Auditorium, where community leaders and concerned people met to discuss possible actions and collective demands. The Civil Disobedience Committee, where people volunteer to gather in various locations throughout the city, hold hands for a city wide Pray-in, and sit-down until arrested.

Below is a quote from Al Sharpton that explains best the goals of the Civil Disobedience and all other related actions:

The goal of the protests is to tie up traffic and force police to make arrests. Sharpton says the protests will continue on a weekly basis, leading up to what he hopes will be a citywide shutdown. “If you’re not going to lock up the guilty in this town, then I guess you’re going to have to lock up the innocent. Since you won’t lock up the cops, then lock up those that are fighting for justice,” said Sharpton.

“On Wednesday, please come out and we’re going to do this peacefully, like we always have,” said Paultre-Bell, Sean Bell’s Widow.

I am asking for people who want to volunteer and be arrested to send an email to: the.frontlines at yahoo.com. Please bear in mind that the goal is to be arrested, not confront the police. This is a city wide pray in. Time and place of actual meeting place will be available once having being identified as a Civil Disobedient.

Each team of CD volunteers will have one lawyer who will work to ensure that every single member is released as soon as possible, once arrested. Each team will be headed by two captains who will work to coordinate contact information, do crowd control, and all other issues related to the Civil Disobedience action. Each team will have one staff person from National Action Network helping to coordinate and support.

For those who wish to support and not be arrested, the coalition is asking for support by appearing at any of the following sites by 3:00 pm. The locations for Wednesday’s gatherings are as follows:

1. Third Avenue at 125th Street
2. Park Avenue at 34th Street
3. Third Avenue at 60th Street
4. Varick and Houston Streets
5. One Police Plaza
6. 415 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

“There will be small groups in each place and they will meet there at the same time and at the same time we are going to have a city-wide pray-in,” said Sharpton. “Where we going those that know won’t say and those that say don’t know.”

Otherwise come and support at any of the following six sites and be there by 3 pm

And what does this have to do with a No Police State?

The End

Those words above are from an email that a friend read to me over the telephone today that I thought sounded interesting enough to repost in my blogaholicness. As it sounds like it could be a children’s story. And it is. It is a synopsis of the play this year that is called ³All About The Weather², and it will be performed this year as part of the Rights Of Spring Puppet Pageant May 4th and May 10th at The Hastings On The Hudson and then at the Boathouse in Prospect Park. And that story above leaves me to wondering about life and death. Birth and rebirth, the cycle of life and change. And I found myself blah blogging a couple of days ago about the only thing constant is change. And Survival Equipment commented on that post, “Well there are two other constants I can think of….death and taxes!”. Now that’s interesting. And for some reason I do not like death sometimes, and yet it is a part of life. The passing of life and the cycle of birth and death. Everything happens for a reason and some stories do not end as you expect. Who knows the hour of their death and when their soul will be required of them. And can one count this day a blessing or a curse. And there must be a lot more sayings and philosophies to say about life, death, tragedies, sorrows, suffering. pain and joy, and those sayings are passing me now. And then I start to think about that verse in the Bible about “Babylon is fallen”, if one believes. And specifically those verses that say: “For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee; And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”
And the above is a photo that reminds me of life and death, yin and yang. Have a great life, death and taxes day.

My Car

This post could be about me and my car but actually I do not have a car, especially as a dweller in this City of New York where a lot of people take to walking the sidewalks and riding the trains to get around. And then what if I leave this city of New York City, usually at those places outside of New York City having a car can be helpful to get around town. And there is usually that option to rent a car when one is travelling. At Advantage rent a car you can find car rental and auto rentals. You can select locations in the United States and worldwide and choose, reserve, pick up and drop off your vehicle on selected dates. You can also find rate quotes, savings and special offers at their website. With Advantage rent a car, renting a car has never been easier.

Change

And I have heard it said that the only thing constant is change. And in other thoughts, as if on cue the other day, it could have been a scene straight out of a Broadway play as I looked up while riding the subway train and going my way. Just about everyone on the subway car that I was sitting in was picking up their cell phone at the exact same time in synchronicity, fidgeting with them and then putting them to their ears at the same time and listening to them or talking to them upon coming out of the subway tunnel into the above ground light, as if one was given a green light and one quick second to receive an invisible signal that said “You can now talk on and fidget with your cell phone before the train goes underground again and you lose this signal.” And this was an almost eerie scene to me in the age of technology, high tech gadgets and the programming of a robotic humanity to adapt to these gadgets that goes with it. And it almost parodies my blogaholicness on this computer to me. Does this one subway car event reflect the rest of the subway cars on that train and the rest of the subway lines here in the New York City metropolitan subway transit system and the rest of the world and nation. And for some reason that verse from one of those rap songs on that Grandmaster Flash, The Furious Five and Grandmaster Melle Mel Sugar Hill Records cassette tape comes to mind, “And don’t be a slave to no computer”. Could their songs and lyrics have been a prophecy of our time. And I look at the date of this day on that Gregorian calendar, and this day seems to be May Day. Workers of the world unite. Have a great technology and May Day day.

A Peaceful Earth

The Sedona method. Now I’ve heard of that town of Sedona in Arizona I believe it is. I think it is this almost magical place with red sand, red rocks and red mountains everywhere, like the kind that that used to be found in those Marlborough man ads from long ago. And I believe there are what is called healing vortexes in the ground everywhere, and spiritualists and new age people tend to flock there by the droves for this purpose I think. And The Sedona Method explains The Secret works with A New Earth and how you can free yourself from pain and suffering and be a more happier and more peaceful you. And you can get your free DVD, CD and MP3 gifts now at their website. Now that sounds like something I could use with the sometimes stressful and hectic pace of life in the city of New York City, as this technique is the bridge between the secret and a new earth and letting go of ones ego and this sounds like a peaceful and higher consciousness self help and self empowerment program and technique to save oneself and planet earth. You can also listen to audio samples of the Sedona Method course, play videos, find seminars, testimonials, endorsements and articles all about the Sedona method at the Sedona website. And if you sign up now you can also receive a free subscription to the Sedona Method Success and well being newsletter and a free insiders guide to The Sedona Method e reports.

Make Music New York

Hey bloggers, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, I will be performing my No Police State song for anyone who shows up at the Green Oasis Garden, 8th Street between Ave C and D in New Yorks East Village, Saturday June 21st from 1pm-2pm as part of this years 2nd annual Make Music New York musical celebration. And in case you haven’t done so yet, you can sign up at Make Music New York to be a participating artist.

Make Music New York is a new live, free musical celebration across the city that takes place each June 21—the longest day of the year.

On that day, public space throughout the five boroughs—sidewalks, parks, community gardens, and more—become impromptu musical stages, dance floors, and social meeting points. Thousands of amateur musicians, in every genre, perform on sidewalks for the biggest crowds of their lives. Professional musicians perform for new audiences, who come out from under their headphones to hear unfamiliar groups risk-free. And everyone is invited to sing along and enjoy the first day of summer.

And in other thoughts, I received this email from Galinsky who does those really cool Manhattan Monologue Slams. And I thought this email looks interesting to repost:

Music

And somehow I wound up going to see this band called East Village Pharmacy play some really cool sounds of reggaetones at this place called SHRINE in Harlem last night. And this gave me yet another opportunity to drag that digital camera out of the closet whose only purpose seems to be to collect dust these days. And so I took that photo of them that I placed in this blog entry, and I also attempted to make a video of them performing one of their songs “Chocolate Cake”, with this digital camera to place on my YouTube page, and you can look at this video there. And SHRINE seems to be a scene in itself with several different bands performing last night, some of them reggae. And one of those SHRINE postcards that I got while I was there says it is a bar, restaurant, world music venue with live music performances, dj, comedy shows, poetry, theater, karaoke and art exhibitions. And another one of their flyers that was floating around seems as if they also put together those Mafrika Musical Festival’s each year at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem with Burkinabe Entertainment. This years festival will be hosted by Chris Karaoke and DJ. Kadafi and performers will be The Superpowers, Pink Noise, DJ. Sirak and Keremela Dance Group, Brown Rice Family, Devirock, Koony, Funk Face, The Octagon, Apollo Heights, Terry Blaine and Zoza Afrobeat. And those festivals rock. Have a great music day.

The Rice

And now in my religious fanaticism thoughts, I am starting to wondering if it is the beginning of the end of the world again as the other days cover of the Metro’s headline read “Hoarding epidemic hits U.S., New York”, as prices of rice, and other staples soar, stores resort to rationing. And this article had a photo and caption of 20 pound bags of rice being rationed. And then that verse in Revelations comes to mind, “And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine”. Behold, is the black horse of famine, the tribulation, the 3rd seal of revelations, the anti christ and doomsday near. What would Nostradamus have to say about this impending silent tsunami famine of global grain shortages. Is this written in prophecy somewhere? Is 2012 here? Is the apocalypse near? Is it judgement day yet? And what about that Albert Einstein quote “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man,” what would he have to say about all of this. And I saw this recent phenomenon of people hoarding rice with my very own eyes yesterday as if it were really real, walls and walls full of big bags of rice when I went to this store in Chinatown, Asia’s bread basket bowl. And does any of this have to do with those bees that are dying from some sort of fungus and bats that are disappearing from some sort of fungus, and fish that are disappearing, and wheat that is disappearing from some sort of Ug99 fungus, and the price of barrels of oil going up and inflation going up even more from the Federal Reserve and Treasury printing up money to cover all of this national debt crisis and global warming and ecosystems that are collapsing thing? Is this all related. Is the beginning of the end near. Should I go and buy all of the rice I can find now before it is not there tomorrow or something. What does this all mean, Does Wikipedia have an entry for this?
