Life After Katrina

Guest post from: Bruno Smith

After hurricane Katrina, my family left New Orleans for a whole year. Our home was a complete wreck, and there was just no way we could live in it. We went to live with my parents in Houston while the house was reconstructed. The kids hated being there, and so did my husband and I. We just wanted to be home, and couldn’t wait to get back to our normal life. It was difficult sharing space with so many people, and we had no privacy. Even though we wanted to be back home, my husband was worried abut moving back to New Orleans once our home was ready for move in. We heard on the news that New Orleans wasn’t safe yet, so we worried about our family’s safety. We started looking into home security louisiana so that we could get an alarm system set up. We thought that would be a good way to feel protected. We knew we couldn’t delay our move any longer, or we would all go crazy. When we got back to our home we were so happy. It looked even better than it did before the storm! I feel so fortunate to have my house back.
